How much does it cost and do you take insurance?

My regular fees are $140/50-mins and $200/80-mins. I am fine with working out payment plans.

I do take Medicare, and I will submit invoices to insurance companies, but I am out-of-network.

I offer a sliding scale for those who have lost their jobs/income or are low income.

How many sessions can I expect to need?

EMDR and IFS can produce huge change in a single session. However, I will not rush the process. Six-ten sessions would be a minimum. Most people stay 3-6 months, and some for years. The more profound your trauma, the slower we should go and the longer it will take.

Do you only work on-line? How well does that work?

I am concerned for both your and my safety, and I err on the side of cautious. I anticipate only working on-line for the foreseeable future. I use HIPAA-compliant platformsโ€”through Psychology Today or Doxy.me which are designed for doctors and healthcare providers. I believe all of my clients feel itโ€™s working out just fine. And yes, we can still do EMDR and IFS.

Can we do EMDR on-line?

Yes. You will need to have a computer screen that is at least 11โ€ wide so you can follow my hand or lights with your eyes fully to the left and right. We will not do deeply traumatic memories until we have a solid, trusting relationship, and you are fully prepared to do so.

What is a typical session like and how do they progress?

I start with a free first session for you to share your issues and for me to tell you how we would work together on them. If you (and I) like how it feels, we commit to an on-going therapeutic relationship and plan future sessions (you can, of course, choose to think about it). I like to do 1-2 more sessions of learning your history and for us to get to know each other. Then, we do some skill-building called โ€œSafe Placeโ€ which is an EMDR tool you will use to calm/soothe yourself. If we need to we will do more building of strengths before choosing to work on deeper more painful memories. Click on the link for more info on IFS and EMDR in the โ€œTherapyโ€ menu. Thereafter, we will see how you are doing each week. Some weeks you will just want to talk and get support or suggestions, and other weeks we will do the deep healing, preferably in 80-min sessions so you have plenty of time to process and to come back to being grounded.
